A Fist Full of.....Screws?

One of our Elders, who shall remain nameless, was playing soccer on sports day. Playing goalie, he was scored against, and took his frustrations out by punching a brick wall, managing in the process to break a couple of bones in his hand. We took him to the hospital, where it was determined that he'd have to have surgery, inserting pins and mini-screws to help it heal. Our Area Medical Adviser said that it was fairly siple surgery, so it was decided that he would have it done here. He's a spunky kid, and bore up under the stress well. Surgery is frightening enough, without the complications of language barriers, unusual hospital conditions, and rumors of the horrors of local surgery. He showed remarkable courage through the whole thing, and the surgery was a success. Now his only concern is the ribbing he has to take from his fellow missionaries over the origins of the injury . . . .

As far as I'm concerned, if you're going to break something you may as well do it playing sports. Sounds like a glorious injury! I've had a great time reading your posts over the last several months. Thanks for sharing your lives.
